Restylane

Restylane Studio City

Dermal fillers can vary a lot in their effects: some only create a subtle change, but others create very dramatic changes. Because there are so many different dermal fillers with different results, it is important to know exactly which filler to use, whether to combine it with any other fillers, and also where exactly to inject each dermal filler. Skillful answers to these questions will help provide the best results possible. Our treatment center in Studio City, California now offers a range of dermal fillers from Restylane.

Restylane is both naturally derived from non-animal sources and safe for the human body. It works to restore fullness and hydration to the skin to help with smoothing facial folds and wrinkles in the face. Restylane is made out of hyaluronic acid, which is naturally found in your skin and helps hold the structure of the skin together. Hyaluronic acid levels decline with age, so Restylane offers a way to replace this important nutrient in your skin - even in places where levels were low to begin with, such as thin lips.

 What’s the Big Deal?

When you have younger skin, it was smooth and elastic. Much of this elasticity is a result of the hyaluronic acid in your skin, which makes the skin look healthy. Hyaluronic acid has a structure sort of like jello after it has set. However, as your skin ages, it loses the ability to produce this elastic material that keeps it looking young. Instead, your firm, set jello starts to melt a bit. Another part of hyaluronic acid’s job is to bind water molecules inside the skin. This means that as your skin ages, it also becomes less able to hold water. The result is that your skin dries out, becomes thinner, and most importantly, can’t bring back its elastic texture. This lessening of your skin thickness also results in looser skin, which is the cause of wrinkling - and that aging appearance.

Can I Get My Hyaluronic Acid Back?

In the past few years, there have been several breakthroughs in research that now allow us to replace the hyaluronic acid in our skin. The same substance that is found in young skin is now made in a lab and can be stabilized so that its results will last longer. It is called “NASHA gel” for short - Non-Animal Derived Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid - a biodegradable gel. We are now able to simply replace what our skin has lost through age in one quick office procedure - a completely non-surgical treatment.

 How Does Restylane Work?

One brand of hyaluronic acid, created by Galderma Company, is called Restylane, a “dermal filler.” When this dermal filler is injected into the soft tissue of your face, it restores the skin’s structure and hydration, adds volume, and gives it a more youthful, healthy appearance. Restylane is most useful being injected into places where the body’s natural skin structures have been broken down. This means that depressions in the skin - wrinkles - can be leveled out to match the rest of your facial skin. This effectively smooths out facial lines and even most scars, with a very natural look. Not only that, but the skin’s texture becomes softer, more elastic, and much more evenly toned.

 The Restylane Procedure

You and our specialist will decide on the best course of treatment. Restylane will be injected straight into your skin in very small doses. The needle is extremely fine, and lidocaine in the serum ensures that there will be almost no discomfort. The whole procedure is quick and simple, and you will be able to see your results almost right away.

A single treatment of Restylane will fill any depression on the surface of your skin, and make your complexion look more youthful. These results will last for up to 9 months, but with a timed series of injections, can be extended up to 18 months.

The most common areas for Restylane to be used on are:

  • Between your eyebrows
  • “Laugh Lines” (nasolabial fold), for a non-surgical nose job
  • Skin surrounding the mouth
  • The edge of the lip - helps define it
  • The skin on the jawline, for a non-surgical jowl lift.
  • Lip Enhancement: Get fuller lips, especially if your lips were thin to begin with.
